Dae ye remember when the Wellgate opened a’ thae years ago
Some fowks wanted progress so the old steps had to go
A concrete jungle soon took shape wi’ a library and all
And jings, crivvens, help ma boab, an indoor waterfall

It wisnae jist fur locals, they come fae far and near
Tae check oot River Island and try on the latest gear
Hundreds o’ excited bairns queued around the block
Their erses makin’ buttons waitin’ fur the magic clock

Tesco’s and the market hall brought punters by the score
Dundee fowk had got a taste and now they wanted more
Food courts gave them tasty treats fae a’ around the world
Cheesy spuds and burgers, wi’ fancy chips that curled

Waterfalls and lifts and moving stairways are all fine
Eventually there comes a point ye huv tae draw the line
Opulence comes at a price, it disnae mak much sense
